The Richter Scale
Earthquakes are usually measured by the "Richter Scale" (Magnitude), a scale invented by Mr Charles Richter. A 1.0 Magnitude Earthquake can cause slightly a bit of shaking but a 5.0 Magnitude one can cause serious damage such as falling buildings or bridges that break in half.
